Hey everyone!
Greetings from Capetown! I'm finally all settled in in my home in Capetown! I got in at 10pm Thursday night after 31 hours of traveling. What a long journey! I don't think I realized how far from home I really was!
Quick update on the first two days of my African experience:
- My homestay family is absolutely great! Randal(the dad), Benita(the mom), and Astrid(the 13 year old daughter) are all very nice and welcoming. They have a very nice home, which includes a cozy room for me to reside.
-Yesterday all of the Bethel students met up at the our school(Cornerstone Christian College) which is where we met Alan Jensen, our program director. Luckily we don't start classes til Monday, so we just did some orientation stuff.
- We all took a bus tour of the city of Capetown on an open-air bus! How beautiful! OH MY GOSH AM I EXCITED TO SPEND 4 MONTHS in this BEAUTIFUL city!By the end of the tour all of us students were quite tired with our jet lag taking over our bodies.
-Last night my family had relatives over for a Braai, which is like an American BBQ. Very good food! These people love to laugh and joke around. I think I'll like hanging around this people once I understand their english. It's quite embarrassing not to understand my own language.
