Excerts from my journal....

I had an interesting experience while in class yesterday- here's my thoughts....

In "organizational leadership" today we watched a video from the Leadership Summit from Willow Creek church in Illinois. The speaker was Jim Collins, who is a highly recognizable leader in AMERICA! The fact that he was from America was what caught me off guard. I am sitting in a classroom in South Africa, with 8 other Bethel students AND LOTS of students from all over Africa! This is how African students are learning- via American leadership! It's almost as if I'm taking this leadership class without even needing to leave the States! How crazy is that? All of our material and literature is from the US. What would the rest of the world do if it weren't for the US? Would people still "survive" even if they didn't have the reasources that we provide for them? Could they develop their own leadership styles? The world has so easily become assimilated into one culture because of the intensive leadership and interest in leadership that is coming not only from the US, but also from around the world. Instead of focusing on what "level 5" leadership, which is what we were discussing in class, I was thinking about these complicated ideas. Maybe I should stop thinking so much.....or maybe my thinking will help me in the future somehow....any thoughts/comments?
